Teacher: Second Grade

Appointed in 2009

I jumped at the opportunity to be part of the St. George teaching family after experiencing this school as a parent and being grateful for what the program has done for my two children both academically and spiritually. My two boys have not only been very happy at St. George, they have also been given a very strong academic foundation. St. Geroge has great familes, loving teachers and a high academic program that motivates children to be life long learners and are inspired to be good people—compassionate and caring. I wanted to be a part of this community because it provides a safe environment with a family-oriented approach to its community.

I bring with me a love for children, a passion for teaching and nine years of teaching experience. I also bring my Mexican and German backgrounds, which help me reach out to multicultural students and teach all students about these two cultures. I am very creative. I like to work with others, and I am open to new ideas. I am also a mother of two St. George students and have a vested interest in doing everything I can to continue the St. George tradition of academic excellence and the integration of faith and learning.

I love to read. One of my goals as a second grade teacher will be to inspire my students to become life-long readers and writers. My mother instilled in me a great appreciation for the arts. I grew up going to museums, piano concerts, and theatre performances and believe all children should be exposed to art. I like to paint, take pictures, listen to music and play the piano.

My father was German, but I grew up in Monterrey, Mexico. This upbringing gave me the opportunity to speak both Spanish and German. I have always enjoyed traveling and learning about different cultures. Finally, I believe childhood is a very precious time. I do everything I can to provide an environment in my classroom where children feel safe, loved, and respected and learn while having fun.
